Structure - Paleomagnetism - Tectonics
I study how plate tectonics has shaped Earth over millions of years.
Understanding Earth requires going out into it, seeing it, and interacting with it. My research takes me all over the world to study the rocks that preserve a record of Earth’s past.
Our group uses field-based structural geology and geochronology to unravel tectonic events and the uplift of major mountain belts, such as the Himalaya.
Structure
Paleomagnetism
We study the magnetism of rocks in order to map out the ancient positions of continental plates and geological terranes.
We use plate reconstructions and geophysical models to study the forces that shape the surface of Earth and other planets in our solar system.
